Hello guys! Today we are going to have a look at Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 16. We finally get to see the origins of Boruto's Flying Raijin jutsu, a technique made famous by his grandfather, the Fourth Hokage.
Mastering the Flying Raijin
The chapter opens with a flashback to Boruto's training with Kashin Koji. Koji explains the fundamentals of the Flying Thunder God technique, a Space-Time Ninjutsu that allows for instant transportation to a marked location or object. He warns Boruto that while this is a basic Otsutsuki ability, using it recklessly could cause him to lose control.
Koji predicts it would take six years to master, but Boruto, ever the prodigy, picks it up much faster. Koji instructs him to channel his chakra into ninja tools to create markers, allowing him to travel to them as long as they are sensed. Boruto confidently declares himself a genius.
The Burden of Seeing the Future
The conversation shifts to Koji's ability to see future timelines, known as the "Ten Directions." Boruto asks why Koji doesn't share everything he sees to guide them better. Koji explains a terrifying concept: the mere act of observing and sharing the future can change it unpredictably, creating new, unstable branches of reality.
Koji describes this phenomenon as a "Singularity." By knowing the future, people act differently, pushing them further away from their destined path. To reach the best possible outcome, Koji must keep certain details secret to prevent the future from becoming meaningless chaos. He identifies Boruto himself as a Singularity, a unique variable that can alter fate.
Emotional Turmoil in Konoha
Back in the present, tensions run high among the girls of Konoha. Sarada questions Eida about Boruto, trying to understand his motives for distancing himself. Eida explains that Boruto is shouldering the burden alone to protect everyone from his own dangerous reality.
Sumire, however, reaches a breaking point. She confronts Sarada, accusing her of being self-centered and ignoring Sumire's own feelings for Boruto. The argument reveals a painful love triangle, ending with Sumire storming off in tears while Eida watches with amusement, clearly enjoying the drama.
Shikamaru's Secret Strategy
Shikamaru meets with Eida in secret to discuss the situation without being overheard by the sensory team. Eida reveals that a new Shinju named Ryu has been born and targets Gaara. She also drops a bombshell: one of the Shinju can see her even when she uses her Senrigan, posing a massive threat to her safety.
Suddenly, a toad emerges from Eida's hair, it's Kashin Koji. He speaks directly to Shikamaru, instructing him to send Team 7 to the Land of Wind immediately. He warns that Ryu and Matsuri are heading there, and Konoha needs to intercept them to save the Sand Village.
A Warning About Jura
Koji gives a specific warning regarding Himawari. She must not leave the village under any circumstances. If she does, Jura will target her instantly. Koji explains that Jura currently abides by a strange code of conduct, acting like a peaceful visitor within Konoha unless provoked, but outside the village, all bets are off.
Taking the advice, Shikamaru deploys Konohamaru, Sarada, and Mitsuki to the Sand Village. There, they rendezvous with Yodo and Araya, preparing for the inevitable clash with the Shinju. The chapter ends with the heroes lying in wait, while the villains seem to notice they are being watched.
